II, Zürich, 2021, no. 435, illustrated in color p. 350Louis-Simon Domb (1915-2000), Lucienne’s husband, came to France from his native Poland in 1936 to escape Nazi persecution. During WWII he became a hero of the Resistance. He occupied important positions in the French government after the war and his Paris home (72 rue de Bellechasse) eventually became the permanent headquarters of of the Fondation du Judaïsme Français. The portrait was commissioned by Louis-Simon.
