Biography

French born writer, painter and sculptor, Jean joined the Surrealists in 1933. In addition to his work in decalcomania, Jean would create surrealist objects and paintings with heraldic themes. His association with the surrealists would last until 1959. A tireless documenter and lecturer, Jean wrote two books documenting the history of the movement as a whole, Histoire de la Peinture Surréaliste and L’Autobiographie du Surréalisme.
